About the role:

In the role of a Sales Engineer (SE), you will work as part of Charter’s sales organization in a technical capacity to assist Account Managers in the identification & qualification of sales opportunities. You will achieve this by showcasing the products and solutions of Charter and its manufacturing partners through a variety of means including presentations, proposals, social events, proof of concepts, etc.

As an SE, you will consult directly with customers to understand their business problems and design high-level technical solutions to remediate them. These solutions are built on best-practice design principals, and the strategic objectives of Charter and its partners. When needed, you will engage a Technical Architect to assist in a detailed design prior to the completion of the sale.

As an SE, you are a generalist across several technology fields (such as networking, unified communications, security, data centre, and application services) and possess a deep technical aptitude that you can familiarize yourself with new technologies quickly, and present yourself as an expert to clients with relatively minimal time for preparation.

Finally, you will work collaboratively with the sales team to develop long-term sales strategies in a variety of accounts in the public and private sector, including building customized business approaches in targeted accounts. You will maintain a detailed understanding of procurement and ordering requirements and are able to use this knowledge in outlining investment options to drive financial and technologically valued customer engagements.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • 5+ years of computing industry related experience.
  • Product experience in at least one of the following Vendors: Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, or significant experience in one of their key competitors
  • Sales or Technical Sales Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent.
  • Minimum CCNP, JNCP, VCP or similar vendor certification required.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of routing, switching, wireless, collaboration, and computing
  • Excellent organizational skills and highly detailed with proactive action-oriented mindset
  • Efficient problem-solving and analytical skills, and are solutions orientated
  • Strong interpersonal communications (Phone, Email, WebEx)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and written, to technical and business personnel
  • Willingness to learn new systems and vendors, as needed
